Overview

The Development of Four Higher Education Institutions Project involves four universities with different areas of specialization namely the University of Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa focusing on food security research; and the University of Mulawarman on tropical studies; the University of Malang on education, lifelong learning and innovation; and University of Jember specializing in biotechnology innovation and research.

The Project is in-line with the 4th and 9th Strategic Thrusts of the IDB 1440H Vision and also conforms to the social inclusive pillar of the 10-Year Strategy of the Bank. More importantly, education and skills development is part of the support to physical and social infrastructure pillar of the MCPS 2016-2020) for Indonesia,

The principal development objective of the project is to support the higher education strategy of the GOI (2015 – 2019), which aims at improving national competitiveness through innovation in Higher Education (HE). It will specifically improve quality, relevance, and competitiveness of HE through upgrading, equipping of existing and new facilities, curricula and staff development, strengthening research capacity, and incentivizing commercialization of innovation of existing HE Institutions.

The project will build 30 new buildings across the four universities, provide trainings for 673 staffs, and improve the curricula with activities including (i) identification and assessment of the needs; (ii) review and evaluation of existing curricula (iii) identification and design of new curricula for 46 study programs; (iv) validation and adoption of the newly designed and identified curricula and programs, and (v) local and international accreditation of degree programs and ISO certifications for university processes.

The Quality Improvement of Padjadjaran University Project

The project aims to support the Educational Sector Strategy of the Government of Indonesia to develop the national competitiveness through the increasing the intellectual and welfare level of the community. It will specifically improve the quality of the Padjadjaran University (Unpad) graduates by improving the facilities for supporting three kinds of services namely; education, research and community service activities.

National Slum Upgrading Project

The National Slum Upgrading Program (NSUP) of GOI directly responds to the RPJMN (2015-2019) and has been designed in keeping with the principles highlighted to empower the community and to strengthen local government roles for acceleration of the ‘100-0-100’ movement (100% connection to water supply, 0% Slums and 100% access to Sanitation facilities) in order to alleviate and prevent slums in urban and peri-urban areas through infrastructure improvement and sustainable livelihood, for the period of 2016-2019.
