The IDB Group and the Government of Indonesia are collaborating to improving the access and quality of teaching and learning at the Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP – State University of Padang), West Sumatera, as a part of its Humanitarian Emergency Response and Rehabilitation Package for the Earthquake in Sumatera, Indonesia.

The Reconstruction and Upgrading of State University of Padang project is consistent and relevant to the IDB Vision 1440H (2020G) since it strengthens the national science and technological capabilities through increasing enrollment capacity and improving quality assurance of teaching and learning at the University. It is also aligned with the Education Sector strategy of the Government of Indonesia as it aims at improving the access and quality of higher education to produce graduates who could fill the gap of increased employment and market opportunities.

The project improves the physical learning and teaching environment by rehabilitating and reconstructing the IT Center, Rectorate & Research Center, Integrated Laboratory, Auditorium, Professional Teacher’s Training Center, Student Center and Business Center, along with support infrastructure such as roads, electricity connection, waste disposal, etc.

It also supports the quality and relevance of the University by updating the curricula, supporting research activities, provision of laboratory equipment, upgrading the skills of the teaching and non-teaching staff and strengthening the cooperation between the University and labor market.

Support to the Development of Higher Education Project, Indonesia

The Support to the Development of Higher Education Project involves seven universities namely, the University of Tanjung Pura in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Lambung Mangkurat University in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, State University of Yoyakarta in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, State University of Surabaya in Surabaya, East Java, Sam Ratulangi University in Manado, North Sulawesi, State University of Gorontalo in Gorontalo, and Syiah Kuala University in Banda Aceh, the Special Region of Aceh.

Sanimas-Community Based Sanitation Project

The project aims to provide basic sanitation services that will improve health and livelihood of communities and to increase the public awareness about Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). The Community Driven Sanitation will help addressing the health issues induced by open defecation and poor sanitation by providing community based infrastructure for sanitation in 13 provinces with a demand responsive approach.

The Quality Improvement of Padjadjaran University Project

The project aims to support the Educational Sector Strategy of the Government of Indonesia to develop the national competitiveness through the increasing the intellectual and welfare level of the community. It will specifically improve the quality of the Padjadjaran University (Unpad) graduates by improving the facilities for supporting three kinds of services namely; education, research and community service activities.
