The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group officially opened its Country Gateway Office (CGO) in Indonesia on 11 December 2014 in Jakarta to strengthen their partnership and collaboration that have existed since 1975. The ceremony was hosted by H.E. Dr. Ahmed Mohamad Ali, President of the IDB Group, and H.E Dr. Bambang Brodjonegoro, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia and Governor of the IDB for Indonesia and attended by Ambassadors of IDB member countries, high-level government officials, private sector representatives and country representatives of international institutions
H.E Dr. Bambang Brodjonegoro said that “As the opening of the IDB CGO has coincided with the beginning of the new government that has various initiatives and new programs aimed at improving the welfare of the public, the CGO is expected to play an effective role in supporting the development priorities of the government and mediate between the IDB and Indonesian private sector”. He also conveyed his expectation that IDB Group CGO Indonesia would be able to help coordinate better infrastructure funding.
“I trust that the CGO Insha Allah will be an instrumental in further promoting and facilitating joint initiatives between the IDB Group and Indonesia”, H.E. Dr. Ahmed Mohamad Ali, President of the IDB Group said. “And I am happy to share that, the IDB Group cooperation with Indonesia covered a number of areas including Higher Education, Community-based Development and Infrastructure Development with an overall financing of more than USD 4 billion, including USD 1.5 billion of trade financing”, he added.
The IDB Group CGO in Indonesia has international and local staff representing all IDB Group entities. Ibrahim Ali Shoukry was appointed as the Resident Representative and Director of the office.
